Miss Patty tells Taylor his beard is sexy and smokes cigarettes backstage at the festival. Andrew refers to \"The Reaper\" as \"some statue\" and nearly gives Taylor a coronary. Luke grumbles about the table for \"The Last Supper,\" but ends up building it anyway, maybe even without being asked The townie material is golden; every moment fills me with joy.
Stars Hollow puts on many kooky town events, but this one is the most lavish. I'm not sure how they justified spending $$$ on an event for the enjoyment of approximately 40 people, but I'm glad that it happened. Woodbury was supposed to host, but wimped out after a bout of flooding, so Taylor swooped in and offered up SH's services. The major roles in the festival are as follows:
Aside from festival prep, Lorelai spends most of her time clipping coupons and making disgusted faces in response to Sookie's birth plan. For some reason, Rory is horrified by Lorelai's desire to save money, which is childish and strange. She has to understand that since her mom is currently out of work, she needs to find ways to scale back on her spending until the Dragonfly opens. Who cares if she uses Dream Fresh laundry detergent and rolls into Doose's Market with a pocket full of PennySavers That shit is fiscally prudent! It's about damn time that Lorelai started living within her means instead of charging thousands of dollars to credit cards.
Rory doesn't really have her own storyline this episode. She's involved with the festival, snarky about her mom's newfound frugality, and supportive of Lane. She looks lovely as Antea and wears a cute turtleneck and skirt outfit (pictured above) to Gil's band audition. Those are truly the most exciting things I can say about her. For an episode that is beloved by many, there isn't much plot or character development. Gil's appearance and the Festival of Living Pictures make it memorable, but nothing of consequence really happens.
TAYLOR: Ladies and gentlemen, I am Taylor Doose. Welcome to the 43rd annual Connecticut Festival of Living Pictures. [applause] As you may know, the town of Woodbury was supposed to host this year's festival, but due to their recent flooding, Woodbury backed out. They got a little moisture over there and basically said, \"Oh, well, whatever, never mind.\" But the town of Stars Hollow was happy to step in because this vital tradition must continue. [applause] \"The Festival of Living Pictures\" has a storied history...
Sookie and Jackson decide to have a home birth and enlist the services of a formidable midwife. When Stars Hollow mounts a festival of living pictures, Kirk goes way overboard in getting into character for his role as Jesus in \"The Last Supper\", while Lorelai has a bad case of stage fright. Meanwhile, Lane, Zach, and Brian finally find an awesome guitarist to replace Dave, but wonder if he isn't too old to join the band. Nicole asks Luke if they can postpone the divorce and start dating again.
That evening, a high schooler drowns in a tub of boiling water at a Halloween party. Her friend, Tracy Davis, tells Sam and Dean that she doesn't know how it happened, and she doesn't know Luke Wallace. Another hex bag turns up in the couch; with some research, Sam concludes that this isn't a grudge at work but a spell, calling for \"three blood sacrifices over three days, the last before midnight on the final day of the final harvest.\" The witch is summoning the demon Samhain on Halloween, the day on the Celtic calendar when the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest. Once Samhain returns, he can raise other things from Hell, which promises a bloodbath if he can't be stopped.
Matt's father Henry is a member of the Armed Forces who is largely absent in his life and shows little signs of caring for his son's troubles. Henry comes home for a bit in Season 1, before ultimately leaving once more. Matt begins to develop a father-son bond with Coach Taylor, and he feels betrayed when Coach Taylor accepts a job at TMU at the end of the season. Matt tells Julie that even though she will no longer be living in Dillon, they will stay together.
Matt's college prospects also come into play. Knowing he won't be playing football anywhere after being benched, Matt considers art schools and decides on the Art Institute of Chicago. Knowing he'll be away from home, he helps his grandmother move into an assisted living home. However, Matt ultimately changes his mind and stays in Dillon, unable to leave his grandmother knowing that she was the only person who ever stayed by his side all his life.
While Matt and Julie go to a music festival in Austin, they have a fight and Julie knows that Matt hates Dillon and he only stays there because of her. Upon returning, he decides to leave Dillon abruptly and move to Chicago without saying goodbye to Julie leaving her heartbroken. After some time he calls her trying to explain things but Julie devastated tells him he is her other half but still hates him. In the season finale, he explains that if he tried to say goodbye to Julie he would never have left. Near the end of the episode, they are seen at their 'special' spot where they pronounce their love for each other but end their relationship amicably.
The land that became Piedmont Park was first set aside for the Piedmont Exposition of 1887. Later, the Olmsted Brothers designed a plan for the park. Today, it hosts annual festivals and concerts and is home to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, a public pool, and multiple sports fields. 59ce067264
