GIBSON’S HEADER SENDS MONMOUTH PAST SETON HALL
SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Madie Gibson's header in the 19thminute proved to be the difference in the Monmouth University women's soccer team's victory over Seton Hall on Monday evening at Owen T. Carroll Field. The Hawks set up Gibson's game winner with a nice bit of passing, starting with freshman midfielder Jill Conklin. The rookie sent a pass toward the endline for senior Alli DeLuca, who sent a one-timed right footed cross into the center of the penalty area. Gibson rose above her defender and headed the service inside the far post. Goalkeeper Amanda Knaub posted her third shutout of the season and was credited with one save, a stop she made early in the first half. DeLuca now has 28 career points. - Jill Conklin collected her second-career assist and has four points on the season. - Monmouth outshot Seton Hall 8-7 in the game, including a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal. - Monmouth earned five corner kicks and Seton Hall had three. - Amanda Knaub finished with one save in goal for Monmouth. She earned her third clean sheet of the season and the 23rd of her career. - MU has used the same starting lineup in five of its six games this season.
