Monroe Mustangs Men’s Soccer Remains atop Rankings in Week 3 NJCAA Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 19, 2021 – With a dominant season-opening performance last Wednesday, the Monroe College Mustangs men's soccer team remained the No. 1-ranked team in the NJCAA Div. I Men's Soccer Poll for Week 3, as announced by the NJCAA on Wednesday.

The Mustangs have been ranked No. 1 in the poll since the preseason rankings, but finally had a chance to back it up with a 7-0 victory over Suffolk County Community College on Wednesday in New Rochelle. Ivan Silic and Liam Murray led the way for Monroe with two goals apiece in the win. Tom Worm, Cooper Nunn and Cameron Murray all got on the board in the game, while Leon Sitz, Harry Pinchard and Simon Gartmann each provided an assist. Goalkeeper Mathew Nikolovski picked up the shutout victory, but credit the Mustangs back line for holding Suffolk to one single shot, none of which went on goal, in the win.

The Mustangs are back at it later this week when they take on their inter-campus counterparts, the Monroe College Express, at Skidelsky Field in New Rochelle. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
