RECORD BROKEN! No. 9 Monroe Mustangs Women’s Track and Field Breaks Program DMR Record
BOSTON, Mass., January 30, 2022 – Two days after the Monroe College Mustangs men's indoor track and field team broke its distance medley relay record, the No. 9-ranked Mustangs women's indoor track and field team did just the same, shattering the program's DMR record on Sunday at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University.
The Mustangs set a new Monroe College indoor DMR record with a time of 11:51.81, breaking the previous record of 11:54.99 set back in 2020. The time was good for fourth place out of nine teams on Sunday, and, of course, qualified the Mustangs for the 2022 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the event.
Tshwanelo Maruping ran the 1200m first leg of the DMR in 3:41.54. Chinenye Onuorah then completed the 400m second leg in 56.41. Farrah Miller clocked in at 2:14.71 in the 800m third leg, and then Aaliyah Moore ran the mile-long anchor leg in 4:59.15.
The Mustangs currently have next weekend off, so they will compete next on Friday, Feb. 11, in the Fasttrack National Invitational at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
